Salta's government authorized the clearing of 1,670 hectares declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO
the governor of Salta, Juan Carlos Romero. Taking advantage of the delay in final approval of the Forest Act by the U.S. Senate, the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development in the province has authorized the signing Los Dos Rios SA to raze with 1,670 acres on farms and Abra Abra Grande Girl, near the city of Oran. This area was declared five years ago a World Biosphere Reserve of Yungas by UNESCO.
Salta's government embarked on an uncontrolled emission permits for the removal of forests prior to the enactment of the Forest Act.
Our country is in a true Emergency Forestry: dismount 300,000 hectares of native forest per year, equivalent to 1 hectare every two minutes. Most of the deforestation occurs in the north of our country for the advancement of agriculture and livestock.
Only in the past seven months, the province of Salta convened public hearings to allow clearing of a total of 200,000 hectares, equivalent to 10 times the size of the city of Buenos Aires. This scorched earth policy can only be stopped by the urgent approval of the Senate's long-delayed National Forests Act.
The rule establishes a moratorium on clearing up both provinces make a land of native forests in a participatory planning sustainable use of them also explicitly prohibit the granting of permits for land clearing in areas traditionally inhabited.
